Week 2 Time Management Blog

For the past week I pretty much lost my time management schedule. It didn't result in unfocused time, but way too much time on one focused activity. I spent nearly 12 hours a day almost every day this week working the coding for my website. I finished the majority of the coding on Friday and uploaded the new coded pages to the FTP site.

I didn't get any new articles written.

This next week I have about 8 hours of coding left to fix. I have 2 more featured artists to put up on the site. And a few articles to write.

I can see on a week to week basis that it isn't always going to be possible to get everything done that I want done. This is part of the lesson. Learning how long tasks will take as to not over extend myself.

Check back next week!

Week 1 Time Management Blog

After writing my article series on time management, I decided to go ahead and chronicle my adventures in time management in my blog.

I decided my work week was going to go from Sunday to Saturday. So this first week's entry is for the week of March 1st through march 7th.

I managed to get my website, Body Icing by Jennifer launched on Sunday. I spent four hours on Sunday trying to load my site with FTP, but after spending about twenty minutes on hold with my webhosting service I found out that the servers were down.

On Monday I realized that the color scheme I had for my website was horrible if it was viewed on a computer with a better monitor and video card than what I had. So I spent several hours coming up with a new design for the site.

The rest of the week was spent playing with HTML coding, becoming more active in social networks, and household stuff.

Overall this week I am happy with my progress in using time management. I didn't get done everything I wanted to do, but that is okay, because my major goal for this week was to get the site up and running. I accomplished this goal.

My goals for next week:

---Finish fixing HTML code on the website webpages.
---Spend at least 5 hours expanding my social networking.
---Write 3 articles and post them to the site.

I will see how I do next week. I am taking Sunday off to spend with my family and to have a friend over for dinner. So my work week will start on Monday.

Thanks for following along in my endeavor. If you are attempting to try my time management plan out and are blogging about it, I would love to know. Leave a comment with a link to your blog so everyone can check it out!

My site is up and running! YAY

Body Icing by Jennifer is now fully up and running. I am working hard to fix all the broken links and the funky page formatting, but the site is up and running.

The forum for the site is also up and running, but I am putting the finishing touches on the boards today. I hope everyone will join up and start networking and having fun. My philosophy is that we can never have too many friends! So the more who join the forum the better. There are going to be a lot of cool things on it that go along with the site, from signing up to be a featured artist to contests in the future.

I hope everyone enjoys the site, and if you have any suggestions for the site, feel free to drop me an email or join up on the forum and let me know.

I will be using this blog as an update feed for the site. So when I post new things I will update this blog with a link, so subscribe to the rss feed if you want updates. Or join the board for the newsletter which will be starting in April.

I will also be starting to keep track of my progress with the Time Management article series from the site. I will be posting updates here on the blog, hopefully once a week, but might be more like once a month!

Hope to see you on the forum!

Lots of Love,
Jennifer

Big News!

I am only days away from launching my website Body Icing by Jennifer. It will be at www.bodyicingbyjennifer.com

The primary focus of my site will be the information. I will have everything from where to find free and pay jewelry tutorials, a reprint of the jewelry supply list with some updates, to business planning, marketing, and general jewelry business articles. I will have more personal articles about time management and other things that affect the life of a jewelry maker/small business owner.

I will have a spot for my own tutorials, when I get back to making them, a place for pieces that are for sale and a gallery of pieces past.

I will have my own forum, so feel free to join in.

And I will have a section for all my friends who would like a little free advertising, called Featured Artists. I will have as many pages as necessary and will post people in the order they email me. If you would like to get in on the first few pages, email me at my website email address bodyicingjewelry@gmail.com In your email include your name, business name, a picture of the piece you would like to show case, a quick bio (you know 20-50 words...or longer if you would like, but try to keep it to under 200) and a link to your website, esty/ebay store, or blog.

I am asking a small favor in return, only if it is possible, of a link back from your site or blog. If you don't have one or can't put it in there (like your site doesn't have a "Links" section) then don't worry about it, I will include you no matter what. The only reason I ask this is it raises the google page ranking of the website.

I would like to thank everyone who has read this blog, and I promise to keep it updated more often now with clips and links to new articles and maybe some new eye candy when I get some more supplies.
